About this web tool
A planned checker that reads the canonical signals for a URL and highlights conflicts, chains and mismatches.
What it will solve
Canonical tags can be duplicated, relative, misplaced or contradicted by redirects and other directives. Search engines may ignore them when signals disagree.
Planned capabilities
These describe what we intend to build. They may change, and none of them is available yet.
- Planned: Detect canonical declarations in the page HTML and in HTTP Link headers
- Planned: Compare the canonical URL with the requested URL and its final redirect target
- Planned: Flag multiple canonicals, canonicals outside the head, and non-200 canonical targets
- Planned: Surface conflicts with noindex and other robots directives
- Planned: Explain each finding in plain language with suggested next steps
